How do I book a bin?

Just phone 0800 JUMBO BIN (0800 586 262) and we will book a bin for you, or alternatively you can email us on info@jumbobin.co.nz.

What can I put in my bin?

GENERAL WASTE BIN

Anything in the way of household waste to the kitchen sink!  Household rubbish, garden waste, plastic, cardboard, office waste, furniture, appliances etc.  No hardfill in these general waste bins.

HARDFILL BIN

3m hardfill bins are designed exclusively for hard fill material. They are for clean soil, concrete and dry clay. Bins can be filled to level of the top of the bin only.

If the load is rejected from our hardfill sites, then it has to be tipped as managed waste and will incur an extra charge.  If you have another type of hardfill, like  Bricks, Tiles, Rocks, Scoria, Asphalt, Sand, Compost, please talk to the office about pricing. No rubbish at all in the bin please.

General waste and hardfill waste can not be mixed in the same bin.

When will I get my bin?

We can usually get the bin to you within a few hours if it is urgent, otherwise same day of ordering or whichever day you select.  We try to be as flexible as possible with times to your advantage, but prefer to book 24 hours in advance to allow for receipt of online payments.

How high can I fill the bin?

Depending on the size bin you order, there are highly visible markings around the bin denoting the levels to which you can fill.  The advantage of this is that if you end up having more rubbish (nearly always) than you anticipate, you can continue filling up to the 9m mark and just pay the additional costs.

The bins must not be filled any higher than level with the top to avoid spillage during transit.  This is a legal requirement by LTSA and also to comply with OSH regulations.

Should the bin be overfilled, this may result in the excess being removed and left at the site.

What if I’m out when the bin is delivered?

We will need detailed instructions as to where you want the bin left and payment will need to be pre-arranged.

What if I have dogs?

Please alert us if there are dogs on your property.  Any dogs or animals that may put our driver at risk must be safely restrained at the time of bin delivery.  If our drivers cannot deliver a bin due to perceived threat from an animal, you will be deemed liable for the cost of the bin under our Terms and Conditions.

What kind of access does the bin truck need?

We need at least 2.6 metres width for clearance, with no tight bends.  Difficulties with access can be caused by trees, power poles, street signs, low building lines, narrow driveways.

What is a cubic metre?

A cubic metre is a standard measurement.  Imagine a giant Rubrik’s cube that is one metre wide, by one metre high by one metre deep.

How long can I have my bin for?

Bin hire is for 3-4 days but can be left longer or collected earlier by prior arrangement.  Longer hire may result in additional charges.

How do I pay?

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • Cash on delivery
  • Cheques
  • Online banking

Do you recycle?

We endeavour to recycle wherever and whenever possible.

When do I pay?

All bins must be paid for on or before delivery unless you are a Jumbo Bins account customer.

Please note:  Unless agreed with management, no payment results in no bin.

Can I move the bin?

Absolutely not!  If the bin is moved while still empty, the driver may not be able to gain access to collect the bin again. If the bin is moved, any necessary steps that need to be taken to allow the driver access to collect the bin, will be at the customer's cost.

Can you leave the bin on the road?

Unfortunately not in most cases.  This is regarded by the council as a road hazard and unless you obtain an exemption beforehand it is not possible.  Please contact Auckland Council 09 301 0100 for more information.

What happens if my bin is heavier than the standard full bin weight?

The overweight charge is $25 per 100kgs over the bin’s weight limit which is outlined on the price and size page.

Why is the rubbish next to my bin still there?

Our drivers are under instructions not to remove anything other than that contained within the bin itself.  We can not be sure that items left beside the bin are intended for removal.  Please ensure anything you wish to be removed, is placed in the bin itself.

What CAN NOT be put into the bins?

Tyres, wet paint, asbestos, polystyrene, hot ashes, liquids, solvents, oils, chemicals, fibrolite, expanded foam, explosives, flammable waste.
